This program gives the opportunity to learn a second language as a family. The first years of children’s lives are the time when they first fall in love with words and music.  We offer an early childhood program that fosters both language acquisition and musical development for children from birth to five years old. Pasitos was created for families to learn fun ways to incorporate Spanish at home in their daily routines. It is like adopting a guess to your house and inviting him to be part of your daily family life.

Parents and caregivers are invited to participate in class to explore new ways of learning Spanish. Even parents who are not familiar with Spanish can be active participants.  There are posters with lyrics, and the songs, we use in class, are simple and repetitive which makes it easy for everybody to follow. We use singing, finger plays, dancing, musical instruments, props, puppets, hands-on activities and sensory play to create a rich and meaningful learning experience.

Each semester explores different songs and activities to teach Spanish themes such as: greetings, colors, emotions, numbers, animals (farm and jungle), opposites, parts of the body, and shapes just to mention a few.

We hold our classes in a nurturing environment, in which we respect the uniqueness of every child, their learning style and personality. Some children are very active participants while others just like to observe. Whether they actively participate or observe, they are learning. That is the wonder of teaching a language through music!

Why music works so well with children?

Music is a powerful tool to teach a second language.  Children learn best when they enjoy the process of learning, and music awakens children’s enthusiasm to use language. It enables children to develop language skills and use their imagination and creativity as they acquire a second language.
